Sustainable Practices & Eco-Friendly Skincare

At Hyssop Beauty Apothecary, sustainability is at the core of everything we do. As a member of the New Jersey Sustainability Registry, we're committed to a journey of continuous improvement, constantly assessing our practices to find new ways to reduce our environmental impact.

• Production:

  • Products are made in small batches to eliminate waste.

  • Our facility uses energy-efficient mechanical systems and LED lighting.

  • We use glass pipettes and cloth towels instead of single-use plastic and paper towels.

  • All cleaning products are biodegradable.

  • Packaging is made from glass, reusable metal, or compostable cardboard.

  • Our bottle buy-back program allows customers to return bottles for a credit, which we then clean, sanitize, and reuse.

• Purchasing:

  • We reduce our carbon footprint by purchasing ingredients and packaging locally whenever possible.

  • We exclusively use renewable and ethically sourced ingredients.

• Shipping:

  • All shipments are carbon-neutral.

  • Shipping materials are made from recycled/recyclable materials.

  • Plastic bubble wrap received in shipments is donated to local small businesses for reuse.

• Other Initiatives:

  • As a member of the TerraCycle program, we collect Gillette razors and packaging and donate the earned cash to local charities.

  • We collect metal razor blades and return them to Albatross Co. to be melted down and repurposed into travel cutlery.

  • All plastic film, batteries, printer cartridges, and used electronics are taken to a recycling center.

  • All office supplies are made from recycled/recyclable materials.

  • All business systems are paperless.
